WILLIAMSPORT — Junior 197-pounder Travis Ogden (Clearfield) received honorable mention in last week’s d3wrestle.com NCAA Division III Poll after sweeping five bouts in the 13th annual Budd Whitehill Duals in Lamade Gym Jan. 11-12.
Ogden (16-1) had a pair of bonus wins, a key 15-0 technical fall against Mitchell LaFlam in a 23-21 win over Castleton (Vt.) and a 14-4 major decision against Simon Chee in a 23-15 victory over Wesleyan (Conn.) for ninth place in the 16-team tournament.
He extended his winning streak to 15 with decisions over James Huntley, 5-2, in a 27-14 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Alex Mirabella, 9-2, in a 37-9 loss to No. 17-ranked and eventual champion The College of New Jersey and 4-0 over Brad Basham in a 23-21 win over No. 23 Washington & Lee.
The Warriors were projected to place second in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at King’s College Saturday, but the tournament was canceled because of Winter Storm Harper.

MEN’S SWIMMING
ERIE — Freshman Chase Bietz (Clearfield) swam the second leg for the victorious 200-yard medley relay team in Penn State Behrend’s 100-62 win over visiting Washington & Jefferson Jan. 12.
He swam exhibition in the 50 freestyle (22.03), 200 breaststroke (2:15.07) and 200 free relay (1:29.89), all times that would have been winning times.
Bietz has recorded 10 wins in individual events and been on nine winning relay foursomes for the 2-1 Lions.

MEADVILLE — Sophomore Hayden Steiner (Clearfield) was on a winning relay team and earned points in two individual races while sophomore Tate Swanson (Clearfield) also picked up points in three events as Clarion defeated host Allegheny 141-102 Friday for its first victory in five dual meets.
Steiner turned in a 22.66 second leg for the Golden Eagle 200-yard freestyle quartet that posted a 1:29.91 time after finishing fourth in the 200 free in 1:57.20 and fifth in the 500 free in 5:27.30.
Swanson’s 22.58 anchor leg closed out a second-place effort by the 200 medley relay team and then touched third in the 50 free in 23.35 and fourth in the 100 free in 51.30.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
GREENSBURG — Junior Cody Spaid (Clearfield) scored 22 points, snared 25 rebounds and logged 10 assists in Pitt-Greensburg’s four Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games the last two weeks.
His top performance included eight points, a team-high nine rebounds and four assists against Medaille (N.Y.) in an 84-72 loss Jan. 12.
The Bobcats also lost 95-89 at Penn State Altoona Jan. 9, 78-73 to Mount Aloysius at home last Wednesday and 105-76 at D’Youville at Buffalo, N.Y., Saturday to fall to 4-12 (1-8 AMCC).
Spaid, who is averaging 23.4 minutes in 16 starts, leads the Bobcats in rebounds with 99 and blocked shots with 18 and is tied for the lead in assists with 45.
He has scored 114 points (7.1 ppg) and registered 13 steals.

DUBOIS — Freshman Josh Terry (Curwensville) had 10 points and 10 rebounds while junior Bernard Rauckhorst (Curwensville) had seven points and eight rebounds for Penn State DuBois in four Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference home games the last two weeks.
Terry’s top outing was seven points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in a 75-72 loss to Penn State Fayette last Tuesday.
Rauckhorst’s best was a seven-point and three-rebound effort in an 82-40 loss at Penn State Shenango Jan. 7.
The Lions also lost 70-53 to Penn State Mont Alton Jan. 15 and 77-67 to Penn State Wilkes-Barre Friday for a five-game losing streak and a 4-12 (0-10 PSUAC) record.
In nine games with one start, Terry has scored 40 points with 25 rebounds, 10 assists, seven steals and six blocks.
Rauckhorst has 57 points, 45 rebounds, four assists, two steals and four blocks in 16 games, also with one start.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Sophomore Ethan McGinnis (Clearfield) placed in two events for Slippery Rock in the Youngstown State University Invitational Friday.
He tied for 10th in the high jump by clearing 1.76 meters (5 feet, 9-1/4 inches) and) and tied for 19th in the triple jump by covering 12.28 meters (40 feet, 3-1/2 inches).

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Pitt-Johnstown Sophomore Mason Royer (Clearfield) lowered his personal record for the 60-meter hurdles to 9.18 seconds for 27th place at the Youngstown State University Invitational Friday.
A week earlier, Royer just missed making the finals for that event in West Virginia University’s Marty Pushkin Track Classic, finishing seventh in 9.46.
He also placed 25th in the 60-meter dash in 7.70.
