DUBOIS – On Monday night, DuBois City Council voted to approve permitted all-terrain vehicle riding on its property along DuBois-Rockton Road.
The permit fee will remain set at $150 with a possible adjustment coming next year. Anyone who would like to renew their permits would be eligible for a $50 discount.
Previously, council began exploring the removal of a parking spot at the intersection of West Long Avenue and North Franklin Street.
The request was made by a citizen because a car parked in this particular spot obscures sight.
City Mayor Gary Gilbert said he had received a couple calls from people who didn’t want to see parking taken away. It was pointed out that some businesses are empty due to lack of parking.
“I feel bad for people who have businesses there, but it is a hazard,” said Councilman Randy Schmidt.
Council ultimately voted to remove the single-most troublesome of the three parking spots. The fate of the other two spots will depend upon whether or not the situation improves.
Also, at the meeting, the three, new fire chiefs from the DuBois Fire Department introduced themselves to council. Pictured, from left to right, are: Joe Mitchell, Assistant Chief Tony Roy and Assistant Chief Mike Federici.
Councilwoman Diane Bernardo was excused from the meeting.
