CLEARFIELD – Conditional uses topped Tuesday’s Lawrence Township meeting.
The first was a conditional use approval for Tri-County Church of God for a church location on Mill Road.
The second was a lot consolidation followed by a conditional use at the corner of Village and Legion roads. The lot consolidation was for neighboring properties.
One is already the home of a daycare and the owners purchased the neighboring lot in order to expand from family daycare to daycare services.
While the lot consolidation was approved, the conditional use for Dawn Tobias to expand her daycare business required additional discussion. Tobias said she would be expanding from caring for six children to being able to care for up to 12.
Concerns were raised regarding traffic on Village Road and the safety of drivers and the children. Tobias also submitted a letter requesting a “School Bus Stop Ahead” sign as well as a “Children at Play” sign to be erected, and the supervisors will pass the request on to the state Department of Transportation.
PennDOT will then look into the situation and make a determination on whether Village Road is an acceptable access point. The supervisors then conditionally approved the request.
Code enforcement officer Debra Finkbeiner also spoke about an issue discussed at the last township meeting, which she was unable to attend.
The matter was regarding an illegal on-lot septic system and forcing the property owner to connect to the public sewage system. She said that the reason there had been a delay was due to the weather.
Since the meeting, the contractor was able to remove the septic tank and connect the property to the public system.
The supervisors also learned that paving on 104th Cavalry and Mann roads will begin this week and milling will take place on Chester, Franklin, Linden and Falkner streets.
