CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) seeks adult actors age 18 years and older to bring their summer musical, Grease, to the Clearfield area.
Auditions are June 3 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and June 5 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Show dates are Aug. 9-12 and 15-18. All actors are expected to be available for all shows, and the final week of dress rehearsals running Aug. 5-8.
The three-time Tony Award best musical winner for the original and twice revived productions is coming to CAST for the third time. The first was in CAST’s opening season in 1983, and it was produced again 11 years ago.
Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950’s in this rollicking musical.
Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.
An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
Get out your saddle shoes and bobby-socks and grease those DA’s because “Those Summer Nights” are back.
This production is sponsored by CNB Bank and Casteel Chiropractic.
This show is under the direction of Lew Duttry, with Catherine Mandell as music director. Mason Strouse is assistant director and Dana Timko is choreographer.
