CURWENSVILE – Active and retired members of the Curwensville Area Education Association recently held a retirement get-together for Curwensville Area School District teachers who retired at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
Pictured left to right; Joe Kendrick retiring after 35 years teaching secondary math , Kathy Michaels retiring from 2nd grade after teaching 35 ½ years , Kaethe McGonigal retiring after 36 ½ years teaching elementary and special education, Lois Stadtmiller retiring after 35 years teaching business, and Sue Stephens retiring from first grade after teaching for 32 years. Missing from the photo are; Fred Bowser retiring after 33 years teaching industrials arts/technical education and Vic Gearhart, retiring from third grade after teaching 31 years.
According to CAEA President, Sue Lemmo, “This group of retiring teachers has almost 240 years of combined teaching experience across all areas. The teachers of The Curwensville Area School District are and always have been an amazingly dedicated group of educators. As a group there is a real commitment to helping our students learn and achieve to the fullest of their potential. But just as importantly, the teachers work well together, lead by example , and develop lasting friendships with one another. I consider myself very fortunate to have taught with so many dedicated teachers.”
