CLEARFIELD – The Susquehanna River Art Center of Clearfield invites the public to its ninth annual High School Art Show at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library.
This year the show was opened to other high schools in the area. Along with the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School, there are participating students from Curwensville, Moshannon Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola high schools.
The show had 156 entries submitted by 137 students this year, said Martha Bloom, SRACC member.
On May 17 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., there will be a reception with the awards to be handed out at 7 p.m. The public is invited and there will be refreshments available.
Money awards for the show were donated by members of the SRACC and totaled $505.
Molly Magurire’s piece “Life” was awarded Best in Show. First place was won by “Persephone” by Meghan Hepfer, second place by “Starlord” by Ethan Smith, third place by “Snake Study” by Benjamin Schiefer and fourth place by “Daydream” by Madison Kisamore.
Jurors awards were given to Kaitlin Dombroski, Myah Enochs, Katelyn Hetrick, Hayley Moore, Madison Oswalt, Makeeli Redden, Kyler Rosinsky and Paige Tiesi.
Honorable Mention awards were given to Allison Dombroski, Mindy Fleming, Kameryn Harris, Corrin Kanour, Mackenzie Lansberry, Onyx Libreatori, Hannah Minarchick, Breanna Moriarity, Samantha Sharma and Karlie Gisewhite.
The next undertaking for the SRACC will take place on April 28 at the St. Charles Café, starting with a social hour at 5 p.m.
Called “Celebration of the Arts,” it will feature an auction of high-end works of art by local artists, both past and present.
In addition, the band “Live Bait” will provide music for the evening, along with small games of chance, a Chinese auction and appetizers.
