MORRISDALE — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team competed on Saturday at the annual Warrior Blast Tournament at West Branch High School.
Curwensville ended pool play at 8-2 by beating Tussey Mountain 25-14, 25-13, Purchase Line 25-13, 26-24, Austin 25-15, 25-23, Williamsburg 25-14, 25-18, and losing to Hanover 22-25, 17-25. Â
They then went on to beat Central Mountain in a one guarterfinal game 25-21 and then lost to West Branch in the Semi-Finals 23-25, 11-25.
On the day Taylor Thornhill led the team with 55 kills, 23 blocks, and 32 service points with13 aces, followed by Rachel Michaels with 41 kills, 23 blocks, 18 service pts with 10 aces. Audrey Thomas had 41 assists and 21 service points, Madison Peterman had 42 assists and 30 service points with 9 aces, Ricki Wells had 82 digs, 14 service points, Savannah Strickland had 35 digs, 22 service points and Hannah Bressler led with 87 digs.
Head coach Sandy Bailor commented afterwards that, “This was a total team effort on the day; you always go in to a tournament wanting to come out with a championship. We are disappointed we didn’t achieve that, but I am very pleased with the way the girls played in
this tournament.”
The Lady Tide will be in action Monday night when they travel to Clearfield to take on the Lady Bisons.
