Robert L. Wise, 94, of Curwensville died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
He was born Aug. 22, 1923 and the son of the late Frank and Vinnie (Spencer) Wise.
Mr. Wise served proudly and honorably in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Curwensville and started a career as a skilled machinist and tool and die maker for various manufacturers in western Pennsylvania. He retired from this work in 1990.
He and his late wife, Betty, were members of the Curwensville Alliance Church.
He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Wise Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Johnstown and Todd Wise of Virginia Beach, Va., and a grandson, Robert L. Wise III and his family of Pittsburgh.
He is also survived by step-sons, Craig Litz and his wife, Janice and Edward Litz and his wife, Carol, all of Curwensville, Jerry Litz and his wife, Susan of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Robert ‘Beau’ Litz and his wife, Jeanne of Mahaffey; step-daughters, Paulette Lowe and her husband, Darold of Milroy and Janet McGarry and her husband, Timothy of DuBois; 17 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Bloom of Greenville Pike; a brother, William Wise of Ansonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Straw) Wise; two brothers, James Wise, formerly of Grampian, and Francis Wise, formerly of Curwensville; and an infant son, Terry from a prior marriage to Kathryn E. Riddle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with the Rev. Stephen D. Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
