CLEARFIELD – A 21-year-old DuBois man, Nicholas McElwee, is wanted for not appearing for court in a drug case.
According to District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr., McElwee didn’t appear for criminal call March 8. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
On Sept. 1, 2017, Officer Lance Thompson of the DuBois City police charged McElwee with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, F; criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, F; possession of controlled substance, M; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia, M.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 31, 2017, Thompson and a confidential informant arranged a controlled purchase of cocaine. The CI made the purchase from two people inside a vehicle.
Officers subsequently made contact with the vehicle’s occupants. McElwee was seated in the passenger’s seat, and police observed cash from the controlled purchase on his lap.
A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded additional controlled substances, a scale and drug paraphernalia.
A preliminary hearing was held Sept. 8, 2017, at which time all charges were held to court. On March 8, McElwee failed to appear at criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
McElwee is described as a Caucasian male standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
