John W. Reese, 88, of Sandy Ridge died Friday, March 16, 2018 at the James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.
Born Sept. 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Cloyd D. and Mercedes (Reichard) Reese.
He married Mary Patricia (Good) Reese Feb. 11, 1956 in Sandy Ridge. She preceded him in death Nov. 10, 1997.
He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Sandy Ridge.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Penn State University as an electrical technician and graduated from the former Philipsburg High School.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lewis Reese, Paul (Mick) Reese, Henry Reese and an infant brother.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Shelton and her husband, Jason of Jackson, Miss., and two sons, John P. Reese and his wife, Shelley and George W. Reese and his wife, Patricia, all of Sandy Ridge.
He’s survived by three sisters, Joan Cowher and her husband, Richard of Sandy Ridge, Janet Bezilla and her husband, Donald of Osceola Mills and Teresa Elmendorf of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Katie Lyn Reese and her companion, Josh Fortney, Patrick Reese, Mary Reese, Kyle Reese, Jordan Shelton and Sidney Reese; and one great-grandson, Zane Fortney.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, with Pastor Beth Stutler officiating. Burial will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
