Donald Eugene Lloyd, 92, of Clearfield and formerly of Williamsburg, died Wednesday at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Royer, rural Williamsburg, the son of the late John W. and Mary E. (Deter) Lloyd. On July 3, 1950, he married Ruth V. Oberlander in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years; a daughter, Nancy Lombardo (Sam) of Clearfield; two grandsons, Patrick Lombardo (Miranda) of Clearfield and Mark Lombardo (Angela) of Bellefonte; three great-grandsons, Benjamin, Ryan and Nicholas; and two sisters, Shirley A. Lloyd of Pittsburgh and Jean L. Anderson of Bluffton, SC.
He was a 1943 graduate of the Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Patton’s Third Army.
He was employed for Penelec (Pennsylvania Electric Company) for 33 years. He also loved bowling and golfing. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
He was also a member of the John Lewis Shade American Legion Post 6, Clearfield; Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1985; Clearfield Elks Club; Williamsburg Beagle Club; and Clearfield Lodge No. 314 Free and Accepted Masons where he received his 50-year pin.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, March 12 at the John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a Masonic service will be held.
Also, friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service with military honors Tuesday, March 13 at the funeral home with Pastor Heather A. Wurst officiating.
Private burial will be held at Royer Cemetery in rural Williamsburg.
