John Edward Achmoody, 78, of Morrisdale went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Born Jan. 2, 1940 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late John Albert and Nora Abigail Berry Achmoody.
On June 25, 1968 in Tarentum, he wed Judy A. McDonald Achmoody, who survives at home.
Surviving are his children, Jeffery Jon Achmoody and his wife, Dr. Jennifer Graham Achmoody of Clearfield; Jennifer Lynn Kerlin and her husband, Daniel of Pleasant Gap; and Jamie Scott Achmoody of Pittsburgh.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brian and Ethan Achmoody, Nathan, Joshua and Meghan Kerlin and Lucy Achmoody and his mother-in-law, Irene McDonald of Morrisdale.
Also surviving are his sister, Jane Whitmore and her husband, Robert of Ohio and his brother, James Achmoody and his wife, Carol of Ohio.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a very good friend, John Schoen.
Mr. Achmoody was a member of the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg. He was a 1957 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, and had been employed by the former Piper Aircraft, Quehanna, as a machinist.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and trapping. He had been a Boy Scout Leader and loved making Native American Indian crafts.
There will be no public visitation.
A public memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Ted Seibert officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
