John Swider, 88, of DuBois died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at the DuBois Village.
Born Sept. 24, 1929 in Landsford, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Lupco) Swider.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force retiring after 20 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
On April 27, 1954, he married Deborah M. (Love) Swider. She survives.
After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Central Volkswagen in DuBois for many years and the Avery Coal Company.
He is survived by three sons, Larry Swider and his wife, Barbara of Fayetteville, Texas, Richard Swider and his wife, Vicki of St. Louis, Mo., and Kenneth Swider and his wife, Karen of Spring Lake, NJ.
He is also survived by a brother, Andrew “Andy” Swider of Landsford, Pa.; his sister, Dorothy Higgins of Allentown, Pa.; and five grandchildren, John, Elysha, Michael, Megan and Andy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Swider.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. with Pastor Charles M. Lee Jr. officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
