Arthur “Art” M. Zambanini, 92, of Force, Pa., died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
Born Dec. 16, 1925 in Cardiff, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Chesti) Zambanini.
On June 19, 1948, he married his wife of 69 years, Genevieve (Gralak) Zambanini. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II. He was awarded a purple heart as an infantryman in the Third Army, 94th Division.
He was a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 66. He last worked at the age of 83 on the Hollywood Treatment Plant running an excavator.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force and the Bennetts Valley American Legion Post 978.
He liked to hunt and was very meticulous about his yard work and keeping his vehicles clean.
He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary “Pooney” Mehall and her husband, Roger of Weedville; a brother, Leno Zambanini and his wife, Rachel of Force, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Mehall, both of Force, Pa.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Yvonne; an infant son, Arthur; and a sister, Rose Secco.
There will be no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force with Fr. Mark Mastrian as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Memorials may be placed with St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 17764 Bennetts Valley Hwy., Force, PA and or the charity of the donor’s choice.
