Eugene J. Raponi, 77, of Parma, OH and formerly of Smithmill died Saturday in Cleveland, OH.
Born on Dec. 2, 1932 in Smithmill, he was the son of the late Vincenzo James Raponi and Massemina (Shamanna) Barto Raponi.
Mr. Raponi was a 1952 graduate of the former Madera High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.
On June 15, 1957 in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Cleveland, OH, he married Betty Lou (Kokoskie) Raponi, who survives of Parma, OH. Mr. Raponi is survived by two sons, David Raponi and his wife, Mary and Dale Raponi and his wife, Dawn, all of Cleveland, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Dana and Mathew Raponi and Anthony Nalesnik.
Mr. Raponi is survived by two brothers-in-law, S. Donald Kokoskie and his wife, Kathleen of Cleveland, OH and Lawrence L. Kokoskie and his wife, Carol of Houtzdale; a sister, Cora Duke of Broadview Heights, OH; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Raponi was preceded in death by siblings, Alaska McAlkich, Palmer Barto, Irma Leparuta, Elizabeth Barto, Carrie Hollich, Lena Giambalvo, Anna Cook, Albert Barto, Pete Barto, Norge Barto, Rudolph Barto, Raymond Barto, Joseph Barto and Peter Barto.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 9 p.m. Monday at the Ripepi Funeral Home, 5762 Pearl Rd., Cleveland, OH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Parma, OH. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, OH.
