Raymond “Sap” Savel, 80, of Pottersdale died at his residence Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Born May 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Savilla Moore Williams.
He was the last of his generation. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Samantha Buchan and his brothers, Robert Burfield, Merrill Floyd and Arnold Williams Sr.
Mr. Savel was a 1955 graduate of the former Cooper Township High School. He had been employed by Conrail Railroad until his retirement.
He was the founder and president of the Quehanna Industrial Development Corp. He was also directly responsible for the 100-mile yard sale and other community events. He was active in many sportsmen’s organizations of Pennsylvania.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
