Helen V. (Fetcho) Hansel, 97, of Houtzdale died at 1:06 a.m., Sept. 6, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on July 13, 1913 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Kufchock) Fetcho.
Helen was a homemaker and parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the America’s St. Victoria’s Court # 646. She also was a member of the Houtzdale Widow and Widowers Club.
Helen is survived by 5 children; Gerard Hansel and his wife Tess of Houtzdale; Leon Hansel of Ramey; Elaine Donley of Houtzdale; Carolyn Dugan and her husband Charles of Allison Park and Louise Crankshaw and her husband Geoffrey of Erie.
Helen is also survived by 17 grandchildren; Connie (Hansel) Wolfe and husband Eric; Stephen Hansel and wife Judy; Mark Hansel and wife Amy; Jason Hansel and wife Shelly; Garrett Hansel, Lisa (Donley) Cousino and husband Mike; Jacqueline (Donley) Barkley; Stephanie (Donley) Mullin and husband Brian; John P. Donley and wife Pam; Michelle Dugan; Renee (Dugan) Foust; Sherry (Dugan) Ciganik and husband Jason; Nicole (Dugan) Henne and husband Bryan; Monique (Dugan) Mawhinney and husband Mike; Geoffrey Crankshaw; Christina Crankshaw and Justin Crankshaw; 31 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Helen is survived by one half sister, Gladys Luben of Niagara Falls.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen R. “Buss” Hansel on March 9, 1971; a son, Thomas and a daughter Eva. A son-in-law, Jack Donley and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Hansel. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary May Fetcho; Elizabeth Stratton and Ann Moriarty, a half sister, Pauline; three brothers, George, Mike and Mikey Fetcho; three half brothers, Steve Fetcho, Edward Fetcho and Edward Fetcho and four step brothers, Joe, John, George and Andrew Fetcho.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 7-9 p.m., Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 -11:30 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey. The Rosary will be recited on Friday at 3:30 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Christ The King Rosary Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sept., 11 at 12 p.m. in Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, PA, with Very Rev. Fr. Gregory A. Kirsch as celebrant.
