State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred Jan. 2 on the Drane Highway in Boggs Township. During the incident, someone allegedly damaged the victim’s mailbox. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
State police at DuBois
- State police reported on a DUI crash that occurred Sunday on Station Road in Brady Township. According to state police, a 22-year-old Luthersburg man was involved in a single-vehicle crash. While speaking with him, there was allegedly a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He was subsequently arrested for DUI and other summary traffic violations pending blood test results.
- State police investigated an alleged sexual assault that occurred at various times between Jan. 1, 2012 and Jan. 3 in Washington Township. No further information was provided in the report.
State police at Ridgway
- State police received a report about an assault that occurred Sunday in the area of Mosier Road in Highland Township. According to state police, three males were following the victim’s vehicle and flashing their high beams. The victim stopped his vehicle and exited it. He was subsequently met by a male who allegedly started assaulting him. He told state police he heard a gunshot and the other two males started to assault him, as well. State police say during the fight, the victim was cut with a knife/razor in his forehead and rib area; he later discovered a bullet hole through his jacket. It’s believed the suspects were traveling in a Ford truck. State police are continuing their investigation and anyone with information is asked to call 814-776-6136.
Clearfield Borough
- Police responded to an alarm on East Pine Street. Upon arrival, police found the building was secured.
- Police located an open door to a business along Turnpike Avenue. Police searched the building and it was then secured.
- Police responded to a reported assault on Bigler Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a male who was highly intoxicated. He allegedly resisted police and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently taken to the jail.
- Police are investigating an alleged theft of a cell phone that occurred along North Third Street.
- Police assisted with traffic control along East Market Street, where an ATA bus had become disabled.
- Police received a report about juveniles who were acting suspicious around vehicles in a parking lot on East Cherry Street. Upon arrival, police found that the juveniles were attempting to locate an item that they may have dropped in the area.
- Police responded to assist an elderly male who had furnace issues on Linden Street.
- Police received a report about a suspicious male outside a Weaver Street residence. However, police searched the area and could not locate the male.
Lawrence Township
- Police responded to a crash Sunday in the area of the Krebs Highway and Clover Hill Road in Lawrence Township. According to police, the driver – Larry Proud – was traveling on the Krebs Highway when his Jeep struck a deer. It caused moderate damage, but Proud was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.
- Police responded to a crash Sunday at Dunkin Donuts. According to police, a vehicle was legally parked in a space. Another driver backed out, failed to negotiate properly and impacted the vehicle.
- Police received a report about a domestic disturbance Jan. 5 on Lawrence Avenue in Lawrence Township. Upon arrival, officers found an intoxicated female had allegedly struck a male multiple times after a verbal altercation. Police say neither the male nor the female required medical services. She was taken into custody for domestic violence and found to have warrants through the department. Police housed the female in county jail and she was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
- Police responded to a motor vehicle crash Jan. 5 on Washington Avenue in Lawrence Township. Upon arrival, police found a Fox’s Pizza delivery driver had left his vehicle running while making a local delivery. Upon returning, he found it had left its parked position and impacted another parked vehicle. Police cited the driver for the crash.
- Police responded to a motor vehicle crash Jan. 5 on the Clearfield-Shawville Highway in Lawrence Township. Upon investigation, police found a vehicle traveling westbound left its lane, went onto the median and struck a street sigh.
- Police responded to a motor vehicle crash Jan. 4 on Daisy Street Extension at the Clearfield Mall. Gail M. Shannon of Woodland was traveling in a westerly direction when she failed to observe a vehicle operated by Leslie M. Kavelak of State College slow down and stop for a red light at the intersection. As a result, Shannon’s vehicle collided with that of Kavelak in the six o’clock position. No injuries were reported and Shannon’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
- Police received a report about suspicious people Jan. 4 on the Glen Richey Highway and in the surrounding area. According to police, two people were going door-to-door in an attempt to sell soap. A witness called police because they felt the males were suspicious based upon their demeanor. Police say the males fled the scene in a minivan prior to their arrival. Police would like to remind residents to be cautious of letting people inside their homes and to report any suspicious activity.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about a hold-up alarm at First Commonwealth Bank. Upon arrival, police were told everything was OK, and that it was accidental.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a male who commented that he wanted to harm himself and others. Upon arrival, police spoke with the male, and he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
- Police responded for a report about a tractor-trailer that was stuck under the railroad crossing. Upon arrival, it was gone from the scene.
- Police were dispatched for a mental health call at the DuBois Manor Motel. Upon arrival, police spoke with the person who asked to speak with medical staff at the hospital about an evaluation. He was subsequently transported to the hospital, and no further action was required of police.
- Police received a report about female threatening to use a knife at a West Weber Avenue address. Upon arrival, police met with her husband who stated he and his wife had been arguing. She allegedly started throwing things and then picked up a knife threatening to use it. When police spoke with the female, she said they’d been arguing and just having a hard time; she agreed to speak with someone. When someone became available, police cleared the scene.
- Police served a 302 warrant on a female and she was transported to the hospital. Upon arrival, her custody was transferred over to emergency room staff.
- Police were requested to assist with a medical emergency in the 100 block of North Second Street. Officers cleared the scene without incident.
- Police responded to a reported hit-and-run crash in the 600 block of DuBois Street. According to police, the driver of a Honda sedan was stopped for a train crossing. Her vehicle was rear-ended by a dark-colored passenger vehicle, and its driver turned around and fled south towards Main Street. Anyone with information is asked to contact DuBois City police.
- Police received a report about a female who was possibly sleeping in a car in the Sheetz parking lot on East Dubois Avenue. Police were advised the car wasn’t running and the temperature was well below zero. Police requested assistance from emergency personnel, and the female was taken to the hospital for treatment.
- Police received a report about a possible water line break in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue. Police located the break and contacted the city crew to fix it.
- Police received a report about an incident of disorderly conduct at the intersection of Franklin Street and Washington Avenue. According to police, a male yelled at a female after being told to stop revving his engine numerous times. However, the vehicle and its driver were gone upon police arrival.
- Police received a report about a retail theft that occurred at Martin’s Grocery. According to police, the male suspect was stopped on the walkway near Liberty Boulevard. He attempted to flee from officers on foot but was taken into custody a short distance later. He was found to have warrants through the Sandy Township police. Police will charge the male for the incident.
- Police received a report about a couple engaged in an argument in the area of East Sherman Avenue and Lakeview Drive. Police made contact with the couple and found the female was leaving for the day.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of DuBois Street and Parkway Drive. According to police, the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling north and had stopped for a red light. Her vehicle was struck by a Cadillac Deville that was also traveling north. Police say the Deville’s driver was distracted and failed to observe the stopped traffic. No injuries were reported and police assisted with the exchange of information.
- Police received a report about a retail theft that occurred at the Family Dollar Store. Police say the suspect left on foot while two other males left in a blue Acura. Police obtained the vehicle registration but were unable to locate the suspect. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police responded to a minor vehicle crash at the All Washed Up Auto Spa. The caller told police he was backing up his Jeep to allow another vehicle to leave the wash line. He stated that he made “light contact” with the Volkswagen Jetta behind him. While he was trying to get his insurance information, he told police the other driver got agitated and left.
- Police received a report about an incident of retail theft at the Goodwill Store. A female was allegedly found in possession of stolen merchandise, and charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police were dispatched for a water line break on North Brady Street. Police contacted a local business owner and the city foreman.
Sandy Township
- On Wednesday police reported that a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer were involved in a minor accident at the Pilot Travel Center. No injuries were reported as a result.
- Police received a report about a false alarm at Burger King on Wednesday.
- On Wednesday police reported that a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old DuBois woman struck a vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Rossiter man when she attempted to turn onto the Blinker Parkway. No injuries and minor damage were reported to police.
- On Wednesday police reported that a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Luthersburg woman and a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Weedville man were involved in an accident on Maple Avenue at South Eighth Street. Minor injuries and damage were reported as a result.
- On Wednesday a 34-year-old Penfield man was reportedly seen using a $100 marked “for motion picture purposes” at the Falls Creek Sheetz.
- On Wednesday an 18-year-old DuBois girl lost control of her vehicle on icy roads in Treasure Lake. Police say this caused it to hit an embankment and a few trees before coming to a rest. No injuries and severe damage to the vehicle were reported to police.
- On Wednesday a 64-year-old DuBois man reported that while he was driving on Sher De Lin Road, a vehicle traveled from the other direction in a reckless manner and hit his side mirror, causing it to break. He was unable to get a description of the vehicle that did not stop.
- On Thursday a Morgan Road resident reported that her mailbox and her neighbor’s mailbox were hit and damaged.
