CLEARFIELD – Emergency responders saved a woman from jumping off a bridge over the weekend.
According to the Lawrence Township Police Department, officers were on patrol when they noticed numerous cars parked along state Route 879 on the US Route 322 overpass. When officers got closer they saw a woman over the railing. She advised officers that she was going to jump. Police closed US Route 322 east and west as well as SR 879.
Members of the LTPD, with the assistance of Clearfield County Sheriff Chester Hawkins and his deputies, were able to grab the woman and pull her from over the rail back onto SR 879. She was then transported to Clearfield Hospital for an evaluation.
Officers were assisted at the scene by the Clearfield Borough Polic eDepartment, Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office, Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Hyde Fire Company, Mill Road Fire and Rescue and PennDOT.
