University Park, Pa. — The Penn State women’s volleyball team will have at least seven televised matches this season as ESPN announced Monday it will broadcast two matches.
Penn State’s Oct. 15 match with Minnesota will be tape-delayed and aired on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. on Oct. 17. In addition, the Nittany Lions’ match at Michigan on Nov. 5 will air via tape-delay on Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. These are two of three Big Ten women’s volleyball contests set to be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
The Nittany Lions will also have at least five matches broadcast on the Big Ten Network in 2010. Penn State’s first match to air on the Big Ten Network is its Sept. 26 2 p.m. match at Wisconsin, which will be tape-delayed and broadcast at 7 p.m. PSU’s Oct. 2 match against Michigan at 6 p.m. in Rec Hall, as well as its 7 p.m. match up at Ohio State on Oct. 20 will air live. The final two matches scheduled include the Nov. 13 match with Illinois and the Nov. 27 match at Minnesota. A possible wild card match rounds out the Penn State women’s volleyball coverage on the BTN.
Last season, the Nittany Lions had seven regular season matches broadcast on the Big Ten Network, as well as two matches on ESPNU.
The three-time defending NCAA National Champion Nittany Lions open their 2010 season at the Carolina Classic on Aug. 27 against North Carolina. Penn State’s home opener is scheduled for Sept. 3 with Seton Hall as part of the two-day Nittany Lion Invitational. The Nittany Lions are scheduled to play 16 homes matches in Rec Hall this fall.
