CLEARFIELD – The detour around PennDOT’s state Route 879/Lick Run bridge project in Lawrence Township went into official operation on April 6 and is expected to remain in place through July.
The detour is in effect 24-hours a day, seven days a week and PennDOT reminds drivers that all “through” traffic must use the official, posted detour. Both lanes remain closed, and only local traffic is allowed through the SR 879 closure. “Local traffic” is limited to residents living within the project limits. The detour directs southbound and westbound motorists to use SR 970 south to Interstate 80 west and back to SR 879. Eastbound and northbound motorists follow I-80 east to SR 970 north and back to SR 879.
The detour will remain in place through July. The work zone is located between the Sapp Brothers Truck Stop at the I-80/120 interchange and Stiner Road. SR 879 remains open westbound to Stiner Road and eastbound to the truck stop.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on the $11.6 million project. PennDOT reminds motorists to move through all work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and detour signs and always buckle up.
