CURWENSVILLE – Members of the state police at the Clearfield barracks and the Curwensville Borough Police Department will take part in an operation designed to help protect students on prom night.
“My Safe Prom” will be held in conjunction with the Curwensville High School prom on Friday night between 6:30 and 11 p.m.
According to police the prom is traditionally an event where the exuberance of youth collides with alcohol, drugs and inexperience behind the wheel of a vehicle. Serious injury and fatal accidents are often the result of what should be an exciting and enjoyable high school experience.
The goal of this operation is to prevent accidents and preserve life. PSP patrols will be dedicated in the area surrounding Curwensville between Friday and Saturday.
In a similar campaign, PSP-DuBois barracks and the Brockway Borough Police Department teamed up for “My Safe Prom” Brockway area school students. According to that report both departments were happy to report an uneventful evening for the police departments and an eventful evening for students at the prom.
