Caroline F. ‘Carrie’ Moore, 90, of Clearfield died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1926 in Osceola Mills, a daughter of the late Concetto ‘James’ and Philomena ‘Fannie’ Marcella.
She was a popular singer and yodeler in the central Pennsylvania area. She was a part of a musical trio with her sisters, Violet and Virginia, and they performed at numerous picnics, parks and old-time medicine shows.
She later sang and played bass for more than 20 years with her husband’s band, Bud Moore and his Hillsdale Hillbillies.
After that, she retired and spent the rest of her life devoted to her family. She was a life-long member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by 14 children, Carolyn Moore Gormont and her husband, Jeff; Edgar ‘Buzz’ Moore III; Robert Moore; James Moore; John Moore and his wife, Jennifer; Thomas Moore; William Moore; Joseph Moore; Anne Moore Coulter and her husband, Albert; Margaret ‘Peggy’ Moore Wooster and her husband, Mark; Michael Moore and his wife, Janie; Patrick Moore and his wife, Marilyn; and Richard Moore and his wife, Linda, all of Clearfield; and Teresa Moore Gormont and her husband, Richard of Houtzdale; as well as 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar ‘Bud’ Moore Jr. on April 26, 2010 and to whom she was wed on Dec. 6, 1943 in Phoebus, Va.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Moore; two grandsons, Jesse Moore and Allen Lee Moore; and 11 sisters and brothers, Laura, Adeline, Violet, Virginia, Mary, Anna, Josephine, Peter, Andrew, Raymond and an infant sister who died in Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
On Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a Christian Vigil service will be held at 4:45 p.m.
