CENTRE HALL – “Pets Come First” will host the 1st Annual Dog Jog on May 2 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Centre Hall Adoption Branch. The event will take place at the Grange Fair Grounds at 169 Homan Lane in Centre Hall.
The main event will be a 5K race for runners and their pets (runners without pets are also welcome).The race will start at 9:00 a.m. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. near the Grange Fair Grounds Gate 2. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers and the top three male and female Masters. The “top dogs” in various categories will be rewarded with tasty treats. For smaller or less athletic dogs, there will be a 1.5 mile walk starting at 10:00 am.
A rescue fair will also take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The fair will feature animal welfare and rescue organizations, an adoption fair, clinics, vendors, and refreshments.
To register for the 5K race or the 1.5 mile walk, please visit here (click on “The Dog Jog 5K Info”). The registration fee is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the 1.5 mile walk. Participants will be allowed to register the day of the race. The fee includes a bandanna and t-shirt with the race logo (while supplies last).
In order for a dog to participate in either of the races, it must have proof of rabies vaccination and must remain on a leash at all times. There must be only one dog per handler and no dogs under one year old can participate in the 5K (they are allowed in the 1.5 mile walk). The dog cannot be in heat or be aggressive.
