WINGATE – The Clearfield Lady Bison softball squad lost another close game on Thursday afternoon on the road at Bald Eagle Area (BEA), 4-2, in Mountain League action.
The Lady Bison lost 8-5 the first time the two teams met on April 11 in Clearfield at the Bison Sports Complex.
Clearfield jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Lady Eagles came back with two tallies of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Makayla Ross and Aspen Bishop hit back to back one out doubles for Clearfield with Ross scoring the game’s first run.
BEA then registered a lone run in the fourth and another in the fifth to take a 4-1 margin before the Lady Bison would score the final run of the contest in the top of the sixth frame.
Bishop scored the final Clearfield run by leading off the sixth, reaching on an error, and then later coming around to cross home plate.
Lady Bison pitcher Abby Fedder had two hits in the game and threw a fairly strong six innings, giving up just six hits. Fedder, however, did walk seven BEA hitters while striking out five.
It should also be noted that the Clearfield defense played errorless ball, keeping themselves in the game.
The Lady Bison, now 0-13 overall and 0-11 in Mountain League play, are at home for its next game, against Tyrone on Monday. The Lady Golden Eagles defeated Clearfield the first time they played, on April 8, 4-2, at Tyrone.
