CLEARFIELD – The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is inviting the community to hear guest speaker, the Rev. Duane Goodling, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. May 8 at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School auditorium.
Gooding, a mission director, will be giving a presentation about the Think Missions program. The FCA will be presenting a check for the amount of $4,500 to Think Missions for its church planting program.
“The church will be put in place to commemorate Jeremy Learish, a student who passed away in July of 2015,” says CAJSHS teacher Judi A Bookhamer, who is also the school’s FCA advisor.
“Most FCA Club funds were from donations made after Jeremy’s passing. The FCA would like to honor his memory by having a church planted in a location that otherwise wouldn’t have one.”
Bookhamer added that the students felt that this would be the best way to share Jeremy’s love of God with others. In addition to the church, the FCA will be donating money for bibles.
According to Bookhamer, Think Missions is a non-denominational ministry that builds churches as well as offers trips to Cuba and Bolivia.
It was founded in 2008 by the Rev. Patrick Summers after he served 20 years as the lead pastor of a church he and his wife planted in western Pennsylvania.
Goodling joined Think Missions in 2016 and serves as its mission director. Prior to Think Missions, he had been taking mission trips out of his home church since 2002.
