Ruth Ann (McNeely) Shenkle, 79, of DuBois died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 27, 1937 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late John C. and Dorothy (Schleiden) McNeely.
On Nov. 5, 1955, she married Frederick R. Shenkle. He survives.
She retired from the dietary department of the DuBois Regional Medical Center after 24 years of service.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois. There, she was a member of the Women’s Bible Study and the Mary and Martha Missionary Society.
She was a leader in the AWANA Clubs Children’s Program at First Baptist Church for 17 years. She was also active in the church prayer chain.
She enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy and loved her dogs. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed having lunch with her sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children, Karen Lucas and her husband, John, Mark Shenkle and Andrew Shenkle and his wife, Julie, all of DuBois, Matthew “Chip” Shenkle and his wife, Brenda of Reynoldsville and Stephen Shenkle and his wife, Samantha of Indiana, Pa.; her brother, George McNeely and his wife, Bernice of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick “Freddie” Shenkle Jr. and a brother, John E. McNeely.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery.
