GIRARD TOWNSHIP – A Clearfield teenager was airlifted for treatment of his injuries following an automobile accident on Saturday morning.
According to the state police in Clearfield, the 17-year-old was traveling west on state Route 879. Police said he was traveling too fast for the conditions and failed to round a left curve in the road. He traveled off the north berm an then another 500 feet before striking a utility pole with the front end of his Chevrolet Blazer. Police said the vehicle then traveled down an embankment, overturning several times before striking a tree. The Blazer came to rest in a small creek.
The teenager was flown to Altoona Regional via STAT MedEvac for treatment of injuries of an unknown severity. He will be charged for safe speeds and restraint systems.
