MORRISDALE – State police in Clearfield are investigating a report that a Morrisdale woman was the victim of a burglary that occurred on Friday.
According to police two 30-year-old men arrived at the woman’s home in a newer model Saturn coupe. One of the men knocked on the door and the woman answered. The man reportedly told the 85-year-old woman that he worked for Verizon Wireless and that he needed to check the basement.
While the woman and the first suspect were in the basement the other suspect entered the home and located a safe in her bedroom. He then removed the safe. Both men left the scene in the Saturn in an unknown direction.
The woman described the men as Cubans and that they spoke Spanish.
According to police the safe contained $10,000 in US savings bonds and $1,000 in US currency.
