Richard C. “Dick” Hoffer Jr., 66, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown.
Born Oct. 30, 1950 in Williamsport, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard C. Hoffer Sr. and Louise (Clark) Hoffer.
He was a veteran of the U.s. Marine Corps. and served during the Vietnam War.
On Oct. 14, 2000, he married Barbara J. (Hermitage) Hoffer. She survives.
He was an EMT in DuBois and Brockway for more than 15 years and was a carpenter by trade.
He was a member of the Treasure Lake Volunteer Fire Department (North Point Station No. 39).
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed archery. He was referred to often by friends and family as “Old Man River.”
He is survived by five children, Jennifer Hoffer of Marienville; Justin Hoffer and his wife, Lori of London, Ontario; Ann Koc and her husband, Burhan and Danita Park and her husband, Jamie, both of Houston, Texas; and Kerry Kozlowski and her husband, Chris of Reno, Nev.
He is also survived by a sister, Debra Bower and her husband, Tony of Alexandria, Md.; a brother, Scott Hoffer and his wife, Sandy of Grayling, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Adalyn, Taygun, Kortay, Azra, Luke and Alex; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ron Hoffer, Danny Hoffer and William Hoffer.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
