MEADVILLE – Municipalities, community planners and watershed groups looking for grant funding can help find guidance on the application process during one of two upcoming workshops in northwestern Pennsylvania.
The departments of Environmental Protection and Conservation and Natural Resources will hold grant workshops on March 24, at the Erie County Conservation District Office, 1927 Wager Road, Erie, and on April 2, at the Sharon Municipal Building, 155 West Connelly Blvd., Sharon.
The free workshops will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“These sessions are designed to bring together agencies and departments to help potential applicants who are thinking about applying for an environmental grant,” said DEP Northwest Regional Director Kelly Burch. “We are providing one-stop shopping to make the grant application process as easy and convenient as possible.”
DEP staff will provide information on Growing Greener, Energy Harvest, Coastal Resource Management, Source Water Assessment and Protection, and environmental education grants, while staff from DCNR will be available to discuss the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation Grants Program that targets land protection, conservation and recreation project grants.
Representatives from the League of Women Voters Watershed Resources Education Network will be available to answer questions about watershed education grant programs, while the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will have information on partnerships.
Those who plan to attend the workshop should bring at least two copies of documents that describe:
• The proposed project;
• How the project fits into the potential applicant’s master plan;
• Why the project should receive grant funding;
• What matching funds have already been obtained; and
• A one-page map of the location
