CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township has decided to update some of its zoning laws. Portions of the law have remained unaltered since 1984.
Some things have emerged over the years that just weren’t expected during the last update. The Wal-Mart Supercenter, drilling into the Marsellas shale for gas, windmills and outdoor furnaces all are things that have popped up since the last set of changes into the zoning laws.
The Lawrence Township Supervisors met with members of the townships Zoning/Hearing Board and Planning Commission to see what changes are or aren’t needed. The basic changes discussed were whether the township needs to add to the 10 zoning types or simply tweak the uses allowed in these zones.
Most of the above items, save Wal-mart, were topics of what changes may be needed within the township’s zoning. There was also discussion of developer contracts.
All three parties will meet again June 4, 6:00 p.m. to discuss zoning after some research and thought.
