Police report that a sobriety checkpoint was conducted on state Route 120 in Ridgway Township, Elk County on June 12 through the 13 as part of the Pa State Police’s Checkpoint Strike Force Initiative. State police personnel from Ridgway, Clearfield, Kane, Tionesta, and DuBois stations briefly detained 108 vehicles. The drivers were being checked for signs of intoxication. A total of three drivers were subjected to additional sobriety testing, of which none were deemed to be above the legal limit of alcohol consumption. These types of checkpoints will continue to be conducted in Elk County and other counties thorught the Commonwealth. They will be conducted in areas where high incidents of alcohol related vehicle crashes and other alcohol related incidents are occurring.Â
