DUBOIS – Seniors who are enrolled in the 12-week course “Social Justice,” a part of DuBois Central Catholic High School’s Senior Rotation Series, pause in front of the message board created for their peers about the importance of buying local.
According to instructor, Mrs. Kate Kunkle, the students took their message to heart by creating a bulletin board at the entrance to the high school wing with the word: “This Christmas buy local and buy American!”
Students had been researching the role local businesses can play in creating local jobs and thereby positively impacting the local economy.
Kunkle explains, “Our goal is to make Central kids aware that we need to support people who support us. We can make a difference in the local economy just by deciding where to buy things.”
