Louise E. Kirkwood, 85, of Karthaus went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at Windy hill Village of Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg.
Born Nov. 1, 1931 in Pottersdale, she was the daughter of the late Frank T. Sr. and Ivy Lucas Hertlein.
On April 25, 1952 in Karthaus, she wed John D. Kirkwood Sr., who survives.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Laney J. Dixson and her husband, Doug of Karthaus, Sherri L. Reed and her husband, Gary of Reynoldsville and Shelly L. Kochan and her husband, Philip of Frenchville and her sons, John D. Kirkwood Jr. and his wife, Kathleen of Ashville, NC, Dennis L. Kirkwood and his wife, Christi of State College and Stanley A. Kirkwood and his wife, Pamela of Frenchville.
Also surviving are her sisters, Eva Jane Hertlein, Edith M. Hertlein and Patsy Kimble, all of Frenchville; her brothers, Frank T. Hertlein Jr. and his wife, Margaret and Glenn R. Hertlein and his wife, Deborah, both of Karthaus, and Timothy L. Hertlein and his wife, Christine and Lee Hertlein and his wife, Beverly, both of Frenchville; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Benjamin Kimble Sr. and a niece, Abigail Hertlein-Green.
She was a member of the Community Alliance Church, Karthaus. She was a 1950 graduate of Cooper Township High School. She was a homemaker.
Family and friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Alliance Church, Karthaus, and again from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Community Alliance Church in Karthaus with Pastor Daniel Beeman officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus.
