CLEARFIELD – PennDOT posted weight limit restrictions today on two bridges in Clearfield County. PennDOT has posted the state Route 3017 bridge near the village of Sylvis in Burnside Township for a 17- ton weight limit. With the exception of combination vehicles of 27 tons, this posting will affect vehicles exceeding 17 tons. Vehicles that exceed the posting limit will need to use an alternate route.
PennDOT also posted the SR 1009 bridge near the village of Hawk Run in Morris Township for an 18-ton weight limit. With the exception of combination vehicles of 29 tons, this posting will affect vehicles exceeding 18 tons. The bridge has also been posted for “one truck at a time”. Vehicles that exceed the posting limit will need to use an alternate route.
The decision to post the bridges was the result of recent inspections. The SR 3017 bridge was built in 1949 is 34 feet long and carries an average of 214 vehicles per day.
The SR 1009 bridge was built in 1937 is 26 feet long and carries an average of 642 vehicles per day. Clearfield County Maintenance forces will make beam end repairs to the bridge as soon as weather allows.
