John P. Tabone, 89, of Clearfield and formerly of DuBois, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Born Sept. 22, 1927 in Kramer, he was the son of the late Leonard and Carmella (Gruttadaurea) Tabone.
Mr. Tabone was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a self-employed barber in DuBois for more than 60 years.
He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Jane (Sturniolo) Tabone, to whom he was married July 4, 1953. He is also survived by a son, Paul and his wife, Sally J. Durica-Tabone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Nardello and Lucy Shubeck and five brothers, Joseph, Charles, Samuel, Philip and infant Michael.
Mr. Tabone was a past scout master of Troop No. 9 of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a life member of the Sons of Italy Due Palme Lodge No. 189 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 540, Clearfield.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 813 and American Legion Post No. 0945. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sandy Township Hose Club, Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited and the National Rifle Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Fr. James Power as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Post Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
