Catherine (Kennedy) Stover, 73, of Clearfield died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
She was born April 13, 1943 in Clearfield, the daughter of the late Edmund R. Kennedy Sr. and Josephine (Shamp) Kennedy.
She loved her family, which consisted of her daughter, Sherry Kennedy of Bear Rocks; four brothers, Edmund Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Rita of Williamsport and Thomas Kennedy, Ronald Kennedy and his wife, Louise and Michael Kennedy and his wife, Brenda, all of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1961. After graduation, she worked at Penn Traffic (Riverside Market) for several years.
She then attended Beauty Culture School, graduating in 1971. In 1974, she opened her own beauty shop in Susquehanna Terrace until 1986, when she moved her shop to Weaver Street in Clearfield.
In the mid 1970’s, she received season tickets to Penn State football games at Beaver Stadium in State College and for 34 years, she enjoyed tailgating and attending these games.
She spent many hours playing cards, especially Pinochle, with family and friends. She always took great pride in landscaping her home, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed her two dogs, a Poodle named Snoopy and a Bichon Frise named Luvi.
She belonged to the family camp, Kennedy Kamp Inc., where she spent many years with family and friends. One of her fondest memories was her 50th birthday surprise party with many family and friends in attendance.
She was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield. There, she attended many functions and Bible study classes; she also helped with many church functions and served the church in general.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
