Paul Marshall Mayhew Jr., 90, a resident of Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville, and formerly of Philipsburg, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the healthcare facility.
Born Aug. 24, 1926 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Paul M. Sr. and Relem (Vroman) Mayhew.
Mr. Mayhew was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, and a 1944 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.
He served as a military policeman with the Army Air Force during World War II.
He attained the enlisted rank of corporal and he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal for his military service.
He was married Oct. 13, 1945 in Tyrone to the former Mary Kathryn “Pat” Wilson, who preceded him in death Feb. 23, 2003.
Paul was retired from Penelec/First Energy. He had been employed as an operative generator controller at the former First Energy Shawville Generating Station, Shawville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, “Pat”; and two brothers, Charles Mayhew and Timothy Canosa.
Mr. Mayhew is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Mayhew of Curwensville and Patricia Jo Cline of Niagara Falls, NY and her husband, Gerald W. Cline of Philipsburg and two sons, Paul M. Mayhew III and his wife, Sandi of Panama and Mike and Sean Mayhew of Millsboro, Del.
He is survived by six grandchildren, Karena Renee Wasilko, Jennifer Rebecca Wilson, Jodi Lee Guy, Benjamin Robert Mayhew, Shawna Michelle Davis and Sean Richard Mayhew; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Jean Ogrodowski of Newark, NY, Shirley Ann Burke of Niagara Falls, NY and Theresa Steinmetz and her husband, Thomas of Ontario, NY; one brother, Charles Vincent Canosa and his wife, Darlene of Lewiston, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
