PA Competing Against Other States for Share of $200,000
HARRISBURG – With the click of a mouse, Pennsylvanians can help plant trees in their state parks as the commonwealth competes in a national “Plant a Tree” campaign sponsored by Odwalla fruit juices, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary John Quigley said today.
“Beginning May 25, citizens across the nation will be asked to go to the Odwalla Web site, and vote for their favorite state to have a tree planted,” Quigley said. “Each vote will count as a dollar, so we need the help of all of our citizens to become the top vote-getter and score the most dollars for state park trees.”
Over the past two years, Pennsylvania has received more than $25,000 from Odwalla for planting trees. This year, the company is dedicating $200,000 nationally to the cause.
The campaign will end once the $200,000 is allotted. The number of votes a state receives will equal the number of dollars it earns to plant trees within its parks.
“Citizens must vote early before all the dollars are gone. Last year’s campaign involved only nine states and lasted less than two weeks,” Quigley said. “Don’t miss the opportunity to make Pennsylvania the winner. Vote on May 25!”
