Marie Anna McClure Jones Henderson died at home Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1927, at Lock Haven Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Clair C. McClure and Mabel (Beers) McClure.
She and her family moved from Orviston, Pa., to West Decatur, when she was an infant, where she spent the remainder of her childhood.
She was a graduate of Philipsburg High School and attended both Lock Haven Teachers College and a Harrisburg business school.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a devoted Christian; and a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She was an active participant in many groups and organizations, such as Friends of Black Moshannon, the Special Olympics, her Bridge Club and N.O.P.
She found great joy spending time with her family and her friends. She shared her passion for dancing with everyone. She was a pinnacle of light with a life well lived.
She is survived by her husband, James S. Henderson, along with her children, Charles “Alg” Jones (wife Jane) of Julian, April Kelley (husband Albert) of Black Moshannon, Catania Elise Groft (husband Bernard) of Florence, Ala., Nancy Christmas (husband David) of Manhattan Beach, Calif., William Jones (wife Tammy) of Philipsburg, Jonathan Henderson (wife Danette) of Brighton, Mich., and Marie “Missy” Henderson of Lawrenceville, NJ.
Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren, Kristie Bryan, Creighton “Cody” Jones, Jessica Lobb, Martel Kelleher, Natalie Barry, Harvin Groft, Charles “Buddy” Jones, Logan Foreman, Lewis Jones and Carson Jones; six step-grandchildren, James Henderson, Julie Henderson, Janelle Roberts, Rebecca Acton, Benjamin Wright and Michael Braniff; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “Bud” Jones and her five brothers, Raymond, Ronald, Leland, James and Francis.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Front St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. A private burial will take place following the service.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends at the Philipsburg Elks Country Club, 1 Country Club Ln., Philipsburg, following the service and private burial.
