CLEARFIELD – The US Route 322 bridge in Philipsburg near the state Route 53 intersection will be re-named and dedicated as the Veterans Memorial Bridge during a ceremony on Jan. 29. The ceremony will be held at the Philipsburg YMCA, beginning at 11 a.m.
In June 2008, the Pennsylvania Senate passed Senate Bill 999, naming the bridge as the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The legislation was signed into law (Act 60 of 2007) by Governor Edward G. Rendell in late June.
As part of Thursday’s dedication, Pennsylvania Senator John Wozniak, Pennsylvania Representative Scott Conklin, local dignitaries and area veterans will unveil a replica of the bridge signs. Following the formal ceremony, PennDOT crews will unveil the actual bridge signs. The ceremony is open to the public and military veterans are encouraged to attend.
