HERSHEY – The Clearfield County Fair Board of Directors and Fair Queen Committee Chairs Bob Swales & Sue Swales-Vitullo are ecstatic to announce that Miss Leah Carr, 2008 Clearfield County Fair Queen, was crowned as the Alternate Pennsylvania State Fair Queen.
Miss Nicole Clemson of Luzerene County Fair was crowned as the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen.
The announcement came at the 197th Pennsylvania State Fair Convention held in Hershey between Jan. 21 and 24.
The convention offers many educational and informational seminars and discussions as well as being the host of the 23rd Annual Pennsylvania State Fair Queen Competition.
Leah Carr was one of 53 Fair Queens vying for the State Title. All 53 contestants submitted a written essay, “What My Fair Means to Me”, presented a speech telling people why they should come to their fair, and had a one on one interview with the judges.
On Saturday evening the Fair Queen Coronation began at 6 p.m. and kept the crowd in suspense until nearly 9 p.m. when the final results were announced.
“We are very proud of all the hard work and dedication Leah put forth in representing her fair, the Clearfield County Fair,” stated the Clearfield County Fair Board of Directors and Fair Queen Committee in a press release. “Leah’s passion and love for her fair was clear to see every time she spoke of her fair”.
