STRONGSTOWN, PA – Al’s Tire sponsored the racing action Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway under threatening skies that kept some drivers away, but Bryan Force of Indiana became the latest new Zero Wraps Fastrak Late Model feature winner, while Chris Hickok of Commodore snapped Tom Pavelko’s three race winning streak in the Modified Four Cylinders. Bob Pease of Blairsville won the Four Cylinder main for the first time this season.
Bobby Stokes of Milton won an emotional Townsend Gas and Oil Super Late Model feature by himself this time and dedicated he win to his late father-in-law who passed away on Tuesday.
Repeat wins went to Nick Goss of Punxsutawney in the Stoystown Auto Wrecks Street Stocks and Jeremy Shaffer of Derry returned to his winning ways in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks.
Bobby Stokes started on the outside of the Super Late Model feature and led the event from start to finish with second place changing occasionally but third through fifth wasn’t determined until the end. Clate Copeman ran second much of the race until the last caution on lap 19, which set up a two lap shoot out. Stokes pulled away once again only to have second become a three way fight for to spot, as John Britsky went from fourth and spread the need between Copeman and Sammy Stile to take the position. At waving of Kevin Smyers checkered flag it was Stokes all by him self with Britsky, Stile, Copeman and Dwayne Taneyhill completing the top five. Heat wins went to Stokes and Copeman.
The Fastrak Late Models saw Tyler Dietz lead fellow front row starter Mike Laughard into the first turn with Chris Angelicchio in third and Bryan Force fourth. Force was working to the front and on lap six Force went to the inside and took the lead from Dietz off the fourth turn. Force went on to win over Troy Shields, Dietz, Joey Valenti and Tim Snare Jr. Shields and Laughard won the heats.
It was all Nick Goss n the Street Stocks as the Punxsutawney pilot started on the pole and led every lap en route to his second win of the season. Chris Schneider tried the outside on each restart, and he pulled along side of him twice, but the third restart Schneider was actually able to get the lead and he led until the final lap, when Goss was ale to move from the bottom to the outside and take the lead and the win. Schneider was a close second, Jim Boyer was third, Ray Hickok was fourth and Jim Byers was fifth. Schneider won the heat.
Jim Hamilton led the opening lap of the Pure Stock feature before Jeremy Shaffer went to the outside and went from sixth to the lead by the second lap. Once he was in the lead, it was the Jeremy Shaffer show as he opened a sizable lead and never withstood a challenge. Tim Laughard was second with Matt Summers, John Mazey and Joey Petyak completing the top five. Hamilton won the heat.
The Four Cylinder feature saw Mark Wetzel Jr. lead the race for 11 ½ laps, before Bob Pease caught him and passed him with one half a lap to go, but Wetzel battled back off turn four, but he still came up short by about a half a car at he line. Jesse Laughard was third with Paul Little and Chris Yoder completing the top five. Laughard and Adam Pletcher won the heats.
Pletcher caught a tire in the second turn and barrel-rolled he #13, while fighting for the lead. He landed upside down. He was out for the night but was not hurt.
The Modified Four Cylinders were led to he start by Chris Hickok and Mark Maglet with Hickok taking the lead and hold off Matt Weakland the rest of the way for his first win of the season and to stop Tom Pavelko?s three race win steak. The top five were: Hickok, Weakland, Pavelko, Maglet and Jesse Short. Hickok won the heat.
