DUBOIS – A York man has been charged with both bringing heroin to the area and selling it here.
Nelfry German Almanzar, 25, 121 E. South St., York, allegedly sold heroin to a confidential informant on Jan. 20 at a DuBois residence, according to court documents.
Further investigation and additional undercover purchases led to a search warrant being executed on another residence in DuBois Aug. 17.
Almanzar was immediately taken into custody because Pennsylvania State Police had a warrant for his arrest, police said. It was discovered that he had $942 in a pocket of his shorts. A search of the residence allegedly uncovered 174 blue waxed stamp bags of suspected heroin, packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia.
He is charged with four felony counts of manufacture/delivery/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one felony count of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity, a felony count of criminal conspiracy, four misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
For the January undercover purchase he is charged with manufacture/delivery/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and intentional possession of a controlled substance. His bail in each case is $75,000. His preliminary hearings are scheduled for Friday during centralized court.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, when police entered the residence, they found Almanzar, a man and a woman. The man was wanted by state parole agents and was also taken to the DuBois City police station.
When the woman was questioned, she stated Almanzar was staying at the home and was using it to sell heroin. She admitted that she also sold heroin on three occasions during undercover purchases for his benefit.
She explained that he would go to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Jersey or York to get heroin and bring it back to DuBois to sell it.
Some of the money found on Almanzar allegedly matched funds from previous undercover buys.
