Harold Donald “Don” Whipple, 33, of Williamsport died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Aug. 3, 2016.
Born July 13, 1983, he was the son of H. Dennis and Sharon Whipple of Morrisdale.
Mr. Whipple was a 2001 graduate of West Branch High School and a 2006 graduate of Mansfield University with a Bachelor’s degree in geography and environmental sciences.
He was employed by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Montoursville, Pa., as a bridge structural draftsman designer.
On May 21, 2008, he wed Julia Ann Sabol, his high school sweetheart, and they had a fun and beautiful marriage.
Mr. Whipple was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and kayaking. He was a co-owner of Blanchard Spring Hunting Camp, Frenchville, Pa.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8701, Morrisdale, Pa.; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Clearfield Council; Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge 1173, Philipsburg, Pa.; and very dear to his heart – the Loyal Order Of Nuts and Squirrels [LOONS], Williamsport, Pa.
He is survived by his parents and great-aunt Anne Kelemen of Morrisdale, Pa.; paternal grandmother, Margaret Whipple of State College, Pa.; sister, Jennifer Winkler and her husband, Anthony of Tappahannock, Va.; maternal (step) grandmother, Margaret Say of Austin, Pa.; maternal aunts, Diana [Mark] Micklos of Knox, Pa., and Cynthia Say of Clarion, Pa..; in-laws, Mark and Vicki Sabol, Gina and Nathan Jones; and god-children, Hutch and Hattie Jones.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Harold ‘Whip’ Whipple; maternal grandparents, Marie Say, and Donald Say; and brother-in-law, Matthew Sabol.
Private family funeral service will be held at the discretion of the family at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Hawk Run, Pa., with Father William Rupp celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Hawk Run, Pa.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 56 Deer Creek Rd., Morrisdale, PA 16858, where Father Robert J. Horgas will conduct a vigil service. St. John Paul Fourth Degree, Clearfield, will be participating during visitation from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

By proclamation of Gov. Thomas Wolf, flags at commonwealth facilities statewide, are currently flying at half-staff through Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, out of respect for the loss in the line of duty of this government employee.
