NBC has recruited a well-known face from inside the peacock family to host the next Golden Globes.
The network announced Jimmy Fallon will host the 2017 ceremony.
This will be Fallon’s first award show hosting gig since the Emmy Awards in 2010.
“This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year,” wrote NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt in a statement.
Ricky Gervais hosted the show in 2016. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler served as co-hosts — to great acclaim — for three years prior.
The Globes mark the unofficial start of Hollywood’s award season. The show will air January 8, 2017 on NBC.
