UNION TOWNSHIP – A Brookville woman is facing felony aggravated assault and related charges after allegedly running into a man with a vehicle while he was holding a toddler.
According to court documents, Punxsutawney-based state police filed criminal charges against 37-year-old Tammy Lynn Hughes of Brookville.
The criminal complaint states that Hughes was attempting to leave her residence on Howe Road in Union Township and drove her vehicle towards the victims – a known, two-year-old juvenile and a known male.
The complaint states that Hughes allegedly struck the male victim in the lower leg/foot region with the tire of the vehicle while he was holding the two-year-old child in his arms. The male victim yelled at Hughes three times to “back up!” while hitting the hood of the vehicle.
Based on his investigation, state police filed a criminal complaint against Hughes in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office.
Hughes was arraigned at 8:30 p.m. July 23 on the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault, Felony 2 (two counts)
- Endangering Welfare of Children -Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
- Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
- Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
- Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (two counts)
Unable to post $30,000.00 monetary bail (10 percent), Hughes was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 with Bazylak presiding.
