CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced that additional grant funds have been distributed to assist local law enforcement.
Shaw presented Clearfield Borough Mayor Jim Shell, Clearfield Borough Manager Leslie Stott, and Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone with a check in the amount $10,580.00. The proceeds will assist Clearfield Borough with the purchase a new police cruiser.Mayor Schell stated that “Clearfield Borough is grateful for the check”, and noted that “these proceeds make it easier for us to provide adequate police protection in tough economic times”. Clearfield Borough Manager Leslie Stott stated that she was “grateful for the funds supplied through the DAs Office from the JAG Grant”. Stott said this grant was an example of government agencies working together in order to achieve the greatest impact for all residents within our community”.
Shaw stated that the disbursement of funds to Clearfield Borough represents the final draw-down of the $60,224.00 JAG Grant received by Clearfield County in August 2009. Shaw said the grant was designed to help municipal police departments purchase new police cruisers. The Clearfield Borough Police Department, Lawrence Township Police Department, and Dubois City Police Department all received funding from the JAG grant.
Shaw reported that the District Attorney’s Office manages the grant for Clearfield County. Shaw said that special thanks goes to Clearfield County Community Development Specialist Lisa Kovalick for her hard work in preparing the grant application. Shaw also thanked CountyController Tony Scotto for his efforts in monitoring the grant to verify compliance with audit requirements.
