Clinton County was created in 1839 from parts of Centre and Lycoming Counties. It is named in honor of the seventh Governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton.
As of the 2010 census, Clinton County’s population is 39,238.
With over seventy active wells throughout its scenic Appalachian mountains, Clinton County is an active contributor to the natural gas boom.
